Prague, 11th January 2019 – CBRE, the world leader in commercial real estate, is holding the fifth-jubilee prestigious CBRE Meeting of the Year competition that evaluates the best offices in the Czech Republic. The main jury comprising Eva Jiřičná, Alexandra Tomášková (Skanska), Richard Curran (CBRE), Jiří Kejval (Techo), Jan Musil (LIKO-S), Tomáš Jindříšek (Dark Side) and Pavel Maurer (Grand Restaurant) selected the finalists in the following categories: Meeting Room of the Year, The Office as the DNA of the Company, The Most Attractive Working Environment and A Small Office.

Professional guarantors chose finalists in special categories – Healthy Office (Czech Green Building Council), Future-Proof and Innovative Offices (Skanska), Smart Cooperation (Spaceti) and Architectural Design (The Czech Technical University in Prague, students in cooperation with Eva Jiřičná selected the finalists). This year, the general public can also vote in the public voting category at The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in February 2019 and will be awarded by new design prizes from Rückl and Bomma in cooperation with Gravelli.

“This year, it was more difficult to decide than before. For one thing it’s because there were more projects than ever, for another because company offices have a very high standard today. On the other hand, many offices are very similar to one another. So, we were looking for the very best of them — for those apparently using new design and functional solutions,” says Eva Jiřičná, world-famous architect and the chairwoman of the jury.

“Thanks to the long and unique history of Rückl, a glass factory in Nižbor in central Bohemia, our products can be inspired by well-tested glassmaking procedures and we can move them to the next level. Handcrafted, both blown and cut glass products, pay tribute to tradition while being contemporary and unique. We followed this principle when manufacturing prizes for CBRE Meeting Room of the Year contest and we believe that the crystal awards will become a proud gem in all winning offices,” says Rony Plesl, Rückl’s art director.

A record 101 companies entered the CBRE Competition in 2018. IT companies again dominate in the contest. Among the finalists are four co-working centres, e-commerce, financial, media and marketing companies, businesses, law firms and manufacturing companies.

“Having won two categories last year, co-working centres applied again this year. The CBRE Meeting Room of the Year contest highlights the trend of co-working centres being an interesting alternative not only for individuals, but also for smaller teams working short-term for companies with insufficient workspace,” adds Kateřina Havlová, Associate Director A&T Services – Office at CBRE.

The companies in the finals are mainly based in Prague. Brno is represented by The Distillery – Social Reactor, The Funtasty, Avast Software, Lundegaard, STRV and AREAL SLATINA. There are also companies from other regions such as CHALET servis from Bludov, LD Seating from Boskovice, Verizon from Ostrava, KOMA Modular from Vizovice and Madeo ventures from Zlín. The expert jury decision is based on criteria in design, originality, innovation, practicality and attractiveness of the working environment for employees.
